I have a twelve year old and I have no clue how to be her mom.

I feel lost, offended, hurt, confused, angry and sad.

  1. (((HUGS))) It will come. It will hurt in the meantime, but you two will continue this dance and learn some new steps together. I remember this feeling when my daughter was born. I had no idea how to parent my 3.5 year old son anymore. He seemed so big, so complicated, all of a sudde. It was a very confusing time. You can do this! (((HUGS)))

  2. Oh mama, I’m going through similar things with my 10 yr old. I’m also hurt and confused and angry and scared. Bex-what you said was so beautiful. I certainly hope this for us. Hugs mama, I’m there with you. They’re changing before our eyes, how beautiful that we can watch and be a part of it.

  3. Just stumbled upon your site and can relate to your post.  My kids aren’t that old yet but we work with youth alot and constantly see the stress of relationships that the young adult phase brings.  God will lead you through as you seek Him, He’s faithful to give us just what we need when we need it!  A book that came to mind when I read your post is Parenting without Perfection, being a kingdom influence in a toxic world by David John Sell, Jr.  Sorry if my comments are not welcome….I just couldn’t help but post!  BTW….my name is Myra Jackson, mother of 5.

  4. Been there, done that…..  My only advice is to love them, especially when they’re NOT lovable, hug them even if they don’t want to, & TALK, TALK, TALK…. about anything & everything… insignificant or major.

  5. Oh, wow.  I can’t imagine……  (((HUGS))).  I’m confused, etc. enough with a 2 year old and 1 week old.  I can’t think about that far into the future.
I’m so sorry that I didn’t get your message before we went to the hospital!  We were at Wesley.  It would have been so awesome to see you!!!  Please drop me an email before you come down next time.  I’ll email you my # and you can give me a call.
